Biography

Judy Hecker is co-teaching the elective Performance and Print at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in the 2026 fall semester. She is Executive Director Emerita of Print Center New York, and led the organization during its decade of transformational growth (2016–2026). That period was defined by a revamped exhibition program, a move to new, expanded space, and increased audience engagement.

Prior to joining Print Center New York, Judy was an assistant curator in the Department of Drawings and Prints at The Museum of Modern Art, New York (1997–2015). At MoMA, she worked on more than fifteen exhibitions and publications, as well as collection acquisitions, public programming, and education. Judy holds an MA in Humanities from the University of Chicago and a BA in Art History from Wellesley College. She is on the Board of the Lower East Side Printshop, and is a member of Print Council of America and the Association of Print Scholars.
